Living with NLUTD

Living with a neurourological disorder can be challenging, but the right strategies can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

What's it like living with NLUTD?

Living with a neurourological disorder means dealing with problems in how your brain, spinal cord, or nerves control your bladder and bowel. This can affect how you pee or poop, and sometimes cause other issues like infections, pain, or accidents.

Everyday life might include:

  • Needing to use the bathroom more often or suddenly
  • Using special tools or devices to help empty your bladder or bowel
  • Managing medicines to control symptoms
  • Being careful to prevent infections
  • Planning activities around your needs and bathroom access
  • Sometimes feeling frustrated or tired because of the challenges.

It can be hard at times, but with the right care and support, many people find ways to live well and stay active.

This chapter contains general information about neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. Always consult your doctor or healthcare provider for guidance on your individual medical situation.
