Low-intensity shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction

Low-intensity shockwave therapy (LI-SWT) is a non-surgical treatment that uses gentle sound waves to improve blood flow to the penis. It may be an option for men whose erectile dysfunction is caused by problems with blood flow. Learn how it works, when it may be used, and what to expect.

Experimental treatments

You may also hear about treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells, or botulinum toxin (Botox) for erectile dysfunction. However, there is not enough evidence yet to know how well these treatments work or how safe they are. These treatments are still being studied and should only be used as part of a properly controlled clinical study.

This chapter contains general information about erectile dysfunction. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. Always consult your doctor or healthcare provider for guidance on your individual medical situation.
