Possible treatments
Understanding treatment
If you are overweight or obese, your doctor may recommend losing weight, following a healthy, lower-calorie diet, and getting regular physical activity. These changes can improve your general health and may also help increase testosterone levels.
If your testosterone levels remain low and you have symptoms of hypogonadism, your doctor may recommend hormone replacement therapy. This treatment replaces the testosterone your body is not making enough of. It may help improve symptoms such as low sex drive, low energy, mood changes, and reduced muscle strength.
Hormone replacement therapy is not suitable for everyone. Your doctor will discuss whether it is appropriate for you and explain the different treatment options, benefits, and possible risks.
