Treatment for catheter-associated UTIs

If you get a urinary tract infection (UTI) while using a catheter, your doctor will look at your symptoms and decide on the best treatment. Sometimes these infections are caused by bacteria that are harder to treat or by more than one type of bacteria at the same time. This page explains the different treatment options and what you can expect during care.

This chapter contains general information about the treatment of catheter-associated urinary tract infections. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. Always consult your doctor or healthcare provider for guidance on your individual medical situation.
