Urethral cancer becomes more advanced when it spreads into deeper tissue layers, the penis, vagina, nearby organs, or surrounding muscles. This is also known as locally-advanced primary urethral cancer. This advanced cancer is more likely to spread to other parts of the body (called metastatic disease) and is treated more aggressively.
