36th Annual EAU Congress, 9-12 July 2021, Milan, Italy

Patient Track

The 2021 annual EAU Congress in Milan will see the premier of the EAU Patient Track. For the past three years, patient involvement in the annual congress was limited to a Patient Information Session that lasted 3 hours covering a mixed range of topics. This will all change!

Milan21 will offer four separate 1.5 hour thematic PI sessions:

  • Bladder Cancer
  • Kidney Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Life after cancer treatment

In addition, the first EAU Patient Poster Track¹ will take place, offering patients and patient advocates an opportunity to share knowledge and insights into treatments and quality of life issues.

We will also be introducing the Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) Educational Programme².

The ADT programme originated in Canada and has been specifically designed for prostate cancer patients about to start, or are already receiving,  this therapy. The purpose of the programme is to help prostate cancer patients manage and cope with the side effects from ADT.

The programme consists of two elements:

  • An easy to follow workbook
  • A webinar

Alongside the launch of the European version of the book, a Course Facilitator training will be offered as part of the European School of Urology (ESU) programme. The training is for healthcare professionals such as nurses and psychologists; its purpose is to become a certified ADT Course Facilitator.

The programme will be presented at the Patient Information PCa session and the EAUN meeting.

The Patient Poster Track¹ and the ADT Educational Programme² are brought to you by the European Association of Urology (EAU) with programme development support from Pfizer¹, Astellas² and Bayer².
